Senator Terry Link met with constituents who were visiting the capitol with Lake County Center for Independent Living.  LCCIL's mission is to empower people with disabilities to lead self-directed lives as valued members of the community.  Their priority  of LCCIL is advocacy, however, they also  provide independent living skills training, peer mentoring and Information and referrals throughout Lake County.

SPRINGFIELD, IL –State Senator Terry Link (D-Waukegan) voted today to cut lawmakers’ pay by 5 percent by taking 12 furlough days next year.  In addition, he has voted to deny accepting a yearly raise to give valuable dollars back to the state. The pay raise is automatically given to members of the General Assembly every year.

SPRINGFIELD, IL –After listening to the Governor’s budget address today, State Senator Terry Link (D-Waukegan) had questions about how the state could raise revenues to help pay for some of the programmatic cuts the Governor has proposed.

 

“One way to bring more dollars to our state is with tourism,” stated Link.  “The tourism industry in Illinois generated over $5 billion in tax revenues and provided over 300,000 jobs for the state last year alone.  This is an area we cannot afford to cut in the upcoming budget.”
