SPRINGFIELD— A measure that will help to protect victims of crime and their families by better informing them on the status and details of their case was sent to the Governor this week.
 

Senate Bill 1043, sponsored by Senator Terry Link (D-Waukegan), makes a change to the Rights of Crime Victims and Witnesses Act, and requires law enforcement to notify a victim, or the family of the victim when a closed case has been reopened.

SPRINGFIELD, IL –State Senator Terry Link (D-Waukegan) voted today to cut lawmakers’ pay by 5 percent by taking 12 furlough days next year.  In addition, he has voted to deny accepting a yearly raise to give valuable dollars back to the state. The pay raise is automatically given to members of the General Assembly every year.

SPRINGFIELD, IL –After listening to the Governor’s budget address today, State Senator Terry Link (D-Waukegan) had questions about how the state could raise revenues to help pay for some of the programmatic cuts the Governor has proposed.

 

“One way to bring more dollars to our state is with tourism,” stated Link.  “The tourism industry in Illinois generated over $5 billion in tax revenues and provided over 300,000 jobs for the state last year alone.  This is an area we cannot afford to cut in the upcoming budget.”
