Senator on the Senator FloorSPRINGFIELD.— State Senator Terry Link (D-Waukegan) released the following statements after the State of the State address.

“Campaign rhetoric works to win elections, but it doesn’t offer answers on how Illinois should overcome the problems we face. I expect Governor Rauner to evolve his approach from a campaign-mode speech to a responsible party that offers viable solutions.”

According with the Census Bureau, 19 percent of Waukegan residents live below the poverty level. “The governor and the General Assembly have to come up with a plan to resume payments to those in need who benefit from the Child Care Assistance Program, to cite only an example, “ Link said. “These are real folks with real needs who deserve much more that a finger-pointing approach from politicians.“I look forward to working with Governor Rauner, with my fellow senators — on both sides of the aisle — and with the members of the House of Representatives to work in a budget that recognizes the urgency to improve our fiscal standing, as well as in the priorities our constituents expect rightfully from us,” Link said.
