crayonsState Senator Terry Link welcomed news that Waukegan Community Unit School District 60 received $1.4 million from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to improve classrooms. The money will be devoted to renovations at EPIC preschool. That project includes four new classrooms and 3,200 square feet of additional usable space.

"This funding will ultimately help EPIC preschool to increase its capacity to better serve its students. I congratulate the school board members and, especially president Hanna, for their leadership,” said Senator Link. The renovation is schedule to be completed this summer.

EPIC preschool occupies the former Marine Corps Reserve Center that was acquired by the school district in 2011 at no cost, after the base was closed.
