CasinoSPRINGFIELD – State Senator Terry Link (D-Indian Creek) voted for a measure Saturday that would allow new casinos in Illinois, including one in Waukegan, to faster and more effectively invest in creating high-quality facilities.

“These new casino destinations will enhance local economies,” Link said. “This measure will free them up to invest in top notch facilities.”

Last year, the governor signed legislation sponsored by Link that authorized the construction of a new casino in Waukegan, as well as five other locations across Illinois.

Senate Bill 516 includes a provision that would ease requirements on payments these casinos must make to the state, allowing them to better invest in their facilities.

“This legislation will help maximize the benefits these casinos provide to their surrounding regions,” Link said. “I look forward to seeing the economic boost they provide to their communities across the state, and especially in Waukegan.”
